Jeff was an exceptional, eccentric character. Someone who I was always delighted to spot in a crowd at a show.  Seeing him there always meant you were in the right place at the right moment.
He reminded me of a cloud. Mostly his signature free-ranging curls, stacked and waving. But also his energy— at the same time heavy and light. Mischievousness peeking around the corners, hinting at a joke you might just be on the brink of getting. A cloud full of cool rain or wicked tendrils of lightning.
He gave so many of us young musicians the opportunity to feel what it was like to be live on the radio. He was so generous in his dedication to all of our weird projects, giving us his endless gifts of attention and interest. I’m so thankful to have crossed paths with him during such a wild and creative time in my life. People like Jeff are the ones who hold creative communities together. And we were so, so, lucky to have had him holding ours.
