Well it could just be that I personally was on Pipeline! two times — once with Banana and once with the band I play bass in, Puppy Problems. But I still think he must have liked it to play it twice. I remember him actually saying to me that he really dug that song, and I’m always convinced it’s the best song I ever wrote and I will never live up to it again. I do wonder about how he interpreted it lyrically, because it’s an intense song. It’s about sincerely hating your own existence, suffering from severe social anxiety and feeling like you’re missing out on life because of your inability to connect to people yet also knowing how ridiculous self hatred is … while being unable to escape the feeling.
